Daikin FIT — The Slim-Profile System
Why the Daikin Fit line has become our most-installed system in older Salina neighborhoods with tight side yards.
By Duke Hilbert
The Daikin Fit is a smaller, slimmer take on the traditional outdoor condenser. Its slim rectangular profile (33" tall × 30" wide × 12" deep) fits where a traditional 40+ inch square unit won't — critical for older Salina neighborhoods with tight lot lines and short side-yard setbacks.
Where it shines
- Historic ${CITY} bungalows with 3-4 ft side yards.
- Row homes and duplexes.
- HOAs that require outdoor units behind fences (a Fit clears most 36" privacy fences).
- Homeowners who don't want their AC unit to be the first thing you see from the street.
The technical wins
- Inverter compressor with variable capacity (30-100% modulation).
- 17.5 SEER2 in the premium tier.
- 8.4 HSPF2 as a heat pump — qualifies for federal 25C tax credit AND Evergy rebate.
- Wall-mount option for zero-footprint installs.
Trade-offs to know
The Fit is slightly more expensive than a traditional Daikin outdoor unit for the same tonnage — pays back on install ease for tight spaces but not always worth it if you have plenty of yard.
Key takeaway. If your existing outdoor unit is crammed into a narrow side yard, the Fit is likely the right replacement — even if the previous system was a different brand.
