Twice a year is the baseline
Spring AC tune-up (March-May) catches winter degradation and cottonwood coil clogging before the first heat wave. Fall furnace tune-up (Sept-Nov) catches summer dormancy issues and safety items like heat exchanger cracks before you rely on heat.
Skip either one and you increase mid-season breakdown risk by roughly 3× based on our own service call data.
When more frequent makes sense
- Homes bordering agricultural fields (dust and pollen load).
- Homes with pets that shed heavily.
- Systems over 12 years old — early warning matters more.
